There are different types of printers in the market – an instant photo printer or a top-of-the-line printer for documents. Don’t overlook the print quality and the connectivity options when it comes to using one with your Mac. You’ll want one connects easily and does not occupy space on desk.

We have compiled a small list of the best compact printers for Mac users.

So, let’s get going. But, take a look at these first,

1. Pantum P2502W Wireless Laser Printer

The Pantum P2502W is an affordable monochrome printer. It’s a simple option devoid of any fancy features like a display screen, scanner, or fax. It is affordable printer with basic features. The compact design makes it easy adjust on your desk or around it. For the record, it measures just 7.4 x 13.2x 8.7-inches.

It has a page per minute (ppm) of 23, which is impressive considering the price. However, it would be wise not to expect the world out of this printer. The print quality is decent and it can print only a few different shades of grey. So, if you are looking to hand out PowerPoint presentations or Excel sheets, you may want to do a test run before printing the whole document.

Since it’s a laser printer, it is fairly easy to maintain. However, the build quality is a tad delicate, and you will want to handle this printer with care. For now, the connectivity options are sparse and support Wi-Fi and USB. Unfortunately, no Apple AirPrint support.

2. Brother HLL2395DW Compact Monochrome Laser Printer

The Brother HLL2395DW is more expensive than the Pantum printer. However, it offers sharp and high-quality print output. The only thing you need to keep in mind is not to print letters or documents with tiny fonts. Like the one above, it’s a monochrome printer.

While it’s not one of the lightest printers (22 pounds), the compact shape lets you carry it without hassles. For the record, it measures around 10.7 x 16.1 x 15.7-inches, and you can safely tuck it into a corner of your office desk.

The primary highlight of this compact printer for Mac is the connectivity options. Besides connecting with your Mac over USB, you can use it wirelessly with Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Google Cloud Print, etc. Also, it supports AirPrint to let you directly print from your Mac, iPad, or iPhone.

While the prints are sharp and detailed, thin lines appear as expected. As long as you steer off fine fonts, you will be in the safe. The same is true of graphic-heavy prints. It handles graphics well. As per the folks at PC Mag, the results are good enough for the professional usage.

Other than that, it has a 250-sheet tray and a 1-sheet feeder. However, it lacks ADF (Automatic Document Feeder). Furthermore, this Brother printer doesn’t handle photos well.

3. Epson Expression Premium XP-6100 Photo Printer

Another compact printer is the Epson Expression Premium XP-6100. This inkjet printer brings the best of world worlds. It’s not very expensive and delivers high-quality prints in both monochrome and color. It brings an interesting set of features to the table and includes a scanner and a copier.

Speaking of the size, this one is a little more compact than the one above and measures about 13.7 x 13.4 x 5.6- inches.

As noted earlier, it bundles a slew of features. For instance, there are two trays. One of these trays is reserved for photo prints, while the other is for regular prints. It’s a versatile printer and scores well for photos and regular prints. Photos have a good level of contrast and are sharp and well-detailed.

What sets this Epson printer stand out from the rest is the type of black inks used. This printer uses a special form of black ink to print photos. And it’s this ink that brings out good contrast levels in photos. It uses a regular combination of Cyan, Magenta, Black, and Yellow inks.

The printing speed is decent. Epson rates it at 16 ppm for monochrome prints and 11ppm for color prints. The only setback is that the running cost is a tad bit on the higher end.

4. HP LaserJet Pro M404dw

If you are looking for a monochrome laserjet printer, you can’t go wrong with the HP LaserJet Pro M404dw. It checks off quite a few boxes. For one, it’s fast. Secondly, it supports a slew of connectivity options including Apple AirPrint support.

The best part about this printer is its faster printing speed. The company advertises a speed of 40ppm, and the printer manages to measure up to the expectations. It can handle everything easily, from regular plain documents to PowerPoint presentations and PDFs. Of course, the ppm goes down when printing graphic documents.

The M404dw printer gives you several connectivity options: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Apple AirPrint, HP ePrint, Google Cloud Print, etc. Furthermore, the HP Smart App eases the process of printing from phones and tablets. The AirPrint support speeds up the process of printing documents from your Mac.

The one is a compact printer as well. It measures just about 8.5 x 15 x 14.1-inches.

5. HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Wireless Printer

If you are looking for an all-rounder printer for your Mac (and do not mind spending a few bucks), then the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 is the one for you. This one boasts top-of-the-line specs like a large capacity paper tray, a high printing speed, and a duplex ADF. Cool, right?

One of this printer’s advantages over the one above is the low cost per print. At the same time, the printing speed is fast. HP rates this printer at 24ppm for monochrome and 20ppm for color prints. And if your job involves handing out plenty of printed presentations and printouts, you may like this speed.

Secondly, the scanner delivers impressive results. Unfortunately, the printing quality is a tad on the lower side, considering the price. At times, the prints appear a little muddied even with higher resolution. And the same is true of photos as well.

But at the end of the day, if you want a printer for your Mac that can do it all, you may consider this one. And yes, it supports Apple AirPrint.
