But turning on post notifications means that you can open their new posts and view them quickly, without relying on manually checking or algorithm-curated feeds.
Unlike turning on general notifications for Instagram Live, which applies to multiple accounts, these settings allow you to tweak notifications for specific accounts.
How to Turn On Notifications for Specific Accounts on Instagram
Follow the steps below to turn on post notifications for an account on Instagram:
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Go to the Profile of the user you want to get notifications for.
- Tap the bell icon next to their name at the top of the screen.
- Now select the type of content you want to receive notifications for, and toggle each one on.
You can set notifications for specific types of content on Instagram. These include Posts, Stories, Reels, Videos, and Live videos. If you want, you can choose to receive notifications for all of these.
For Live videos, you have the option of choosing how often you want to be notified when someone you follow goes Live— whether you want a notification only sometimes or every time.
And that’s it. Simply repeat this step for each account you want to get notifications for.
To avoid getting too many notifications from Instagram, disable other notifications on the app by going to Settings > Notifications and tapping the notifications you want to disable.
Switch to the Feed for Your Favorite Creators

This allows you to conveniently view the latest posts from all your favorite creators in one consolidated feed, instead of individually. But first, you have to add users to your Instagram Favorites list.
Once that’s done, all you have to do is switch from the Home feed to the Favorites feed every time you open the Instagram app. Here’s how:
- Tap the Instagram button in the top-left corner of your Home feed.
- Tap Favorites in the drop-down menu to see posts from your favorite accounts.
Just keep in mind that each time you exit the Favorites feed or close the app and reopen it, you will land on the Home feed. So you will need to switch back to the Favorites feed again.
